'the

It's been a very good last couple of days. A HUGE thanks to lovely who bought me a flickr pro account. They have asked to be unnamed. A very amazing way to brighten my Monday. The love and support from perfect strangers really amazes me.

dork alert

My new Amy Tangerine shirt arrived on Monday. Amy, I LOVE it. Thank you so much! It is so perfectly me and the colors are superb. Some very awesome Magistical Memories goodies too. I so need to get around to playing with those. Also, note the new hair color. I decided to go darker and I really like the hint of red in it. Now, to working on the cheesy pose and hiding the remote.... Hmm...

{create daily} OLW

A little late night art journalling. The journalling is hidden, very fun to do. I did this for the OLW challenge. I was very inspired after seeing Jamaica's Dare 91 layout to use the paper bag. Some more pics--

that's right.

yep

Looks like that's it for today. I can't belive that April is coming to a close. That is sooo crazy to me. Life is settling into a normal pace, everything seems to have been so insane for the last 4ish months. Since about February I've been staying after school every day for plays and it is soooo strange to come home right after school. Enjoying it though.

I'm hoping to get around to some homework, dive into some more art journalling tonight. Please check in on Thursday for some VERY cool and exciting news.

Oh, and a question. Does anybody have any good recommendations for a light sunscreen to put on my face, arms, and necks? I really need something now that Summer is nearing. I burn super, super easy and some recommendations would be lovely. Thank you!

New dress for Forver 21. Aw, I love dresses. Also gotta love the double chin action. Yeah.

'{create

Art journalled last night. Got inspire from Creative Therapy. I will definitely be checking out that blog some more.

TOAST!

Got Toast in the mail on Friday. AH!!!! It's amazing, gorgeous photography, big fat catalog, thick pages perfect for journalling and crafting. You must sign up for this catalog, very inspiring stuff in there. Thanks to the lovely, Ann-Marie for pointing out this catalog! Check out her blog, her scrappin' style is awesome.

The Happy Book *The Art is Found*

EDITED: Forgot to include this mini, made awhile back. Used a Roxy tag for The Art is Found. Click on photo for more details.

Hmmm... Looks like that's probably it for today. Check out Debee Campos, her stuff is so awesome.

Have a lovely Sunday!

and life goes

uhuh

on. Things seems to be picking up speed. Wanting my lazy Monday back, desperately. Been kinda MIA, got sick on Thursday night, trying to get back to 100%. Feeling a little mojo-less, I'll be taking the next week or so off from scrapping so I'll actually have some inspiration for an upcoming project. Hoping to maybe dive into some art journalling, we'll see how that goes.

Dare 90

For Dare 90. Went very simple, enjoyed that a lot. Does anyone have some good tips for taking pics of layouts? I suck at taking good ones, all info would be lovely.

Despite my lack of inspiration, there is so much awesomeness going around in Internet-World.

Kate's Sweet Spud Gallery.

Christina's Art Is Book.
Kinda think that's it for today, I always have these things in my head that I want to blog about, but then I forget about it. Hmmm...
Oh, and was I the only one that knows the Flickr basic account only allows 200 photos to be seen? I think that's totally lame. I've wanted a pro account, but that's $25. $25 to use on scrapbooking supplies, oh well. Have a great weekend!

My Favorite mini Mini *The Art is Found*

Having a pretty fabulous Monday so far. Got up this morning, checked bloglines, and saw that I had won a tee-shirt and some Magistical Memories goodies at Amy Tan's blog. I was so excited! First time I have ever won anything.

New post is up at The Art is Found. I was so honored to have the lovely, Kimberly Brimhall Guest Design. Check out the blog and play along. Here is a bit of peak of my mini-

My Favorite mini Mini *The Art is Found*

Check the blog out to see more pictures.

I really loved making this, I love "favorite" type projects. They are so fun.

sorta funny

Picked this book up thrifting yesterday. Someone had written this on there, kinda funny. :) I also go this great gray sweater for two dollars. I love thrifting.

I think that's all for today. Planning a very lazy day, I'm wearing sweat pants, an ugly tee-shirt, and no make-up. I will definitely be chilling around the house today. Have a great week!

Sunday

favs

Click on photo for the details. Crazy inspiring stuff.

Life is definitely on the uphill now. Had a really awful week, and then life suddenly got very uncomplicated and quickly. Just the way I like it. :). Stress at school, stress about a play, stress about my health.

NO homework this weekend, which is an amazing feet, the play was cancelled(I'm frustrated that I wasted so much time on, but it would have been a disaster if it had gone up), and a trip back from the doctor was very reassuring. (I've had these "anxiety attack" type things for about two years, every couple of months, my heart freaks out. The heart rate skyrockets and I get dizzy, and see black spots. They usually last about 10 minutes and then they don't happen again for a few months. I've always chalked them up to being anxiety attacks, because I don't handle stress well. The EKG they did at the office came back normal, so they think my heart is healthy. They did send out for some bloodwork which I should hear about soon. I was kinda stressed about that. My mom was pretty freaked out because on Wednesday I had one and then had bad heartburn for a while afterwards. Kinda crossing my fingers that they're just anxiety attacks). Which is sucks, gotta find a way to control them. Now that I've rambled about absolutely nothing, I give you pretty stuff to look at. :)

oh deer

Resurrecting the the deer. A fun embroidery project, not quite sure what I'm going to use it for now, but I'll figure sumpin' out. Embroidery is so relaxing, chilled last night and watched a storm happening outside and embroidered.

{create daily} *KellyPurkeyJack*

New Jack. Doesn't really look like the original layout, but oh well. And yes, I was trying to mimic Rachel Denbow's handwriting. :)

{create daily}

A new page for the song lyrics mini. I still need to make a cover for it. Mushaboom by Feist.

a peak

A little peaky inside the yellow Journal I made a few weeks ago. I am really enjoying journalling this way. I can see a lot more of these little books in my future. :)

I think that's it for today. Going out thrifting with a lovely friend soon, so start sending the lucky thrifting vibes towards me. Gonna finish up some TAIF stuff. Finish the deer. And hopefully get around to order some Moo Cards for some Top Secret project stuff. I am SO excited about that and I want to share, but I can't. Just wait and see. :)

Have a lovely Sunday!

becoming

It's starting to feel like spring. And yes, I do keep feeling like that. The Wednesday before last it snowed. 4 days later it was 75 degrees. Weather is so silly.

And you know what makes me happy? That I edited that photo with HP Image Zone. The free program that comes with HP printers. Because of the my lack of Photoshop at home, I have to resort to that. It usually sucks, but that one came out nicely. :)

Been kinda MIA lately, life is taking over. Sick of stress.

Layouts!

I like

I was avoiding homework. What can I say? Oh, and that's a Martha Stewart cupcake liner. I am in love with those things.

yes

Funkalicious scan. And yeah, I did staple a paperclip to a layout. I saw this paperclip sitting on the desk by the computer and I was like, dang, I want to do something with that. So this whole layout was inspired by a paperclip. Yellow does crazy things to me.

new book {create daily}

A new mini for cataloging my feelings for the day. Had a bad day yesterday and kinda unleashed it on paper. Er, cardboard. It was fun. Boardbooks are so my favorite.

{create daily}

Starting a new mini a la Kate's book of lyrics. That girl is killing me with inspiration. :)

And so is miss Mandi. Did y'all see her TAIF mini-book. I was kinda freaking when I saw it.

Been enjoying talking to this lovely lady. Just recently discovered her stuff and it's. amazing. Case in point.

So thanks to everybody for all the awesome party ideas. Was very inspired after Rhi mentioned a little twist on the "Tea Party".

  • The theme is "Indie/Organic Tea Party". It's the classic white Tea Party with some leaves and kraft cardstock thrown in. It's so me.
  • Canopy with white lace and small white lights.
  • Early evening going into later in the night.
  • Polaroids.
  • I'm buying a Holga.
  • Cupcakes. Lots 'o cupcakes.
  • Virgin dacquiris and margartias. Yeah.
  • Little teacakes.
  • I have the perfect invitation in mind.

BUT, I need tea party food ideas. And game ideas. Think 15 teenage girls. And 3 boys. Hmm... Poor guys.

Think that's it for today. Have a fabulous weekend and get outside and enjoy Spring.

how i scrapbook

For a blog that relies so heavily on eye candy and I'm gonna try to whip out a text post. Weird, I know. Check your mole hairs, things are changing. :D

So this is a little ole' post on how I scrapbook. This is NOT saying that my methods are the best, it's just how I do it. (Why yes, I am running around maniacally with the italic button. I am). And this isn't just(can I tell you how much I really wanted to italicize that) scrapbooking. It's paper art. Maybe I should call meself a paper artist. That sounds cool. And totally dorky. Anyhoo.
And there will be more installements on this exciting topic. So don't freak out when you come to the end.
WHAT I DO:
Scrapbook Layouts- The most "basic" form. I view my scrapbook pages a little more strictly then the rest o' of my paper art. I wish I could go crazy, insane on a scrapbook layout like I do in art journalling, but it doesn't work. When I look over my finished layouts, I notice trends and things that I like more than other.

I really want to get back into telling the story. Pictures and random embellishments just don't do it for me. I get pretty uncomfortable with journalling sometimes, and one of my scrappy goals is to journal more.

I usually don't have a formula to a page. I get really uninspired with layouts a lot and try to mix it up with different "mediums". I try to follow Scrapjacked and the Dares pretty religiously. Both those sites are really inspiring to me and push me to create. Oh, and of course, The Art is Found. :D

Sometimes if I have new product to work with, I usually pile on different things that coordinate. Like the backgroung, a couple patterned papers, lettering, embellishements, etc... And then I find a photo and tell the story from there. That's probably my preferred way to work, but, like I said, I get pretty uninspired sometimes.

Dang, that was a lot of rambling...

Mini Albums- Probably one of my favorite things to do. Mini-albums are easy, fun, compact. Usually, I use book rings and punch holes on the sides to keep them together. For TAIF I used a board books, that was so fun! I'll definitely be making more of those.

I usually have my mini's around some theme, like an event, inspiring quotes, or a random book. They are so fun to make. :0

Art Journalling- Art journalling is something that I've recently got really into. I use a blank composition book. I usually glue on some thicker cardstock to the pages, so they can hold whatever I put on them. I use a lot of catalog images. **You! Right now. Go sign up to be on the catalog mailing list for anthro, UO, and free people.** To journal I usually paint over something, or use masking tape, or journal straight on the "white space" of a picture.

Since I do {create daily}, I usually journal about my day or my random thoughts. I also really enjoy Lu's Art Slam and Emily Falconbridge's weekly art journal challenge. Very fun stuff.

ATC's- Artist Trading Cards. I first kinda "started" with ATC's last summer when I tried Daily Cards. The dailies, while I personally didn't enjoy them after awhile, were really neat. I make them every so often. I use regular ole' playing cards and decorate however I like. I really like Elise put hers in sports trading card book, I think that's what I'll do with them someday.

That's pretty much it. One note that I would like to make is that I don't do altered stuff or cards. I don't really enjoy making altered stuff, but some people really rock the socks off of it. And cards.... Well, this will sound selfish, but I HATE making stuff for other people. I guess I just don't think they'll appreciate it and don't like wasting my scrapbooking products on them. Yes, that sounds bad. But it's true. But I have made stuff for people that I know will appreciate it, if they do crafty or artsy stuff themselves or having expressed a lot of interest in it. I guess, crafting is for me. And that's selfish, but I don't care. :D

Thanks for sticking with me through all this rambling and crap. I'll try to make a little post again about the tools and products and other random Kara factoids on how i scrapbook.

And since I can't stand not having at least one photo, I give you these ridiculously amazing shoes-

They're from Free People. And they're on sale!.... For $99. Crap.

Oh, and I am in love with this by Kate. In love.

Have a happy Monday!

Oh, and I'm kinda planning-ish my 16th b-day party and would LOVE some party ideas! So bring 'em on!

'

Looks like an especially pleasing and fun weekend ahead. Today totally redeemed my week. *Love* it when that happens.

Excited to see my layout in the "favs" section on Scrapjacked.

Some very amazing PM's on SISTV for this thread. People are so nice.

Hoping to do some scrapping and crafting and chilling. Good stuff. Then homework. Oh well, won't think of that.

And a big thanks to all the comments and loving. It's nice to hear from people who "get" me. While most teenage girls like their boyfriends, I prefer my glue stick. :D

Have an inspiring and amazing weekend!

i seem to be in a

solemn

yellow stage as of late. While "proofing" my pics from a late procrastination episode(creative procrastion is the way to go), this one jumped out on me. Don't know why. I love it though.

yellow 12/365

Started on this journal at 10 last night, finished it up this morning. I did it for the packaging challenge at SISTV's Fashionista Challenge Blog. I used a Ritz crackers box for the cover and for the inside I glued a cool ad from InStyle. I was also inspired by this from the lovely Rachel.

inside the journal o' fun

Used lots of Urban Outfitters catalog, scraps, Free People catalog, pages from an Anthropologie journal, stamps, and masking tape.

Hoping to fill it up on the days to come.

Thanks for the heads up on what's inspiring you. It's refreshing to hear good things when life has been kinda sucky. I'm kinda living dfor Summer at this point. I am so over school. Teachers are stupid. I think that's my new mantra. :D

What's inspiring me?

Definitely Hula Seventy. Her photography and blog is out of this world. To just SEE things the way she does would be amazing.

This flickr'er. Her cupcake liner photo has me drooling. Beautiful. I really want a print of that. Hmm... definitely sounds like a photo shoot with my Martha Stewart cupcake liners is in order.

The fact that it's almost Friday. Having a "date" with a friend that I am really excited about. Haven't been too close to this girl because of us just growing apart. Hoping for it to be good. :)

Now, I'll shut up. Have a good one.

xoxoxoxoxo.

*The Art is Found* Board Book Mini-Album

A new post is up on The Art is Found. I was very honored to have the extremely lovely and sweet Gigi Kennedy Guest Design for this prompt. I'm very excited about this project. So click on the link and check it out.

*The Art is Found* Board Book Mini-Album

This is the front of the mini-album I made for TAIF. I'm a little proud of it so I wanted to share it here. I hand drew the front after being very inspired by this amazing paper by KC. I used some plain ole' crayola watercolors for the front. I was very excited so I wanted to share. :)

I think that's it for the quiet morning. I'll get caught up with the {create daily} stuff later this week.

So, what's inspiring you lately?

Saturday, April 5, 2008

lately

yep

8/365

Nothing too new with me. Been kinda bumming around, cleaning, and scrapping today.

scrapjack

The new layout. For Scrapjacked. I think this is the first layout I've ever made in under 30 minutes. Crazy stuff, I tell you.

6/365

7/365

Art journal pages for {create daily}. I had forgotten how much I enjoy art journalling. It's so free and anything goes. I like that. The second page was for Lu's Art Slam. Fun stuff.

4/365

A little wall hangy action.

5/365

Small ATC-type thing. I journalled about my day on the back.

I think that it's for today. I heard this song on the radio today, reminded me of how I missed it.

Wanting this to turn into Green.

Oh, I'm on a bit of a ring kick lately. I have this weird idea to have a mug full or rings. I own two. So if you have any [affordable] ring links, I'd love ya. :)

and she laughed... hysterically

*love these colors*

1. miss 70, 2. I love these colors, 3. someday it'll make it to the wall, 4. Untitled, 5. Polaroid*Magic, 6. miami is fantastic, 7. Give me 5., 8. my favorite wall
Some flickr favs. I love all the colors so much. Mucho inspiring.

Eee... I hate to be MIA so much lately. My play at school debuted this week so life has been a little nutso. Unfortunately, it looks like the rest of April will be like this. I keep going, "Dang, this is what it is like to have a life... strange".

I've been doing {create daily} this week. Lighting was sucky when I got home so I'll try to update with photos later. I missed Wednesday, but No Big Deal. Been making some stuff I like...

Hmm.... Hoping to do some scrapping. I really want to get to Scrapjacked. Laura Kurz's layout is awesome! Kraft background? I am so on that.

So, what's inspiring me lately?

Anyone have any good watercolor books to recommend? I want to get into more painting stuff for {create daily}. Any recommendations would be amazing. Or any painting books. Thanks a million!

Just FYI: The Art is Found post may not be up on Monday. I'm having a kinda crazy day planned. So it'll probably be up on Tuesday morning. So no freaking out! :D
