Music + Composition Journals: An Art Journaling Class Information

music + composition journals: an art journaling adventure
Hello!

Goodness, this post has been long awaited on my part. I began the basic planning for this in mid-May, then June hit and I had no time. So, let's say that I am very excited and ready for this class to begin. :D My Life Story Class was such a success, that I knew "teaching" is where my heart is and I'm jumping at the chance to work for myself again.

This class is melding two worlds that I'm really passionate about. Music and Art Journaling.
Small excerpts from the class:

Music has undoubtedly always been a vibrant fixture in my life. I usually always have it on and may be a little of a music-addict. My poor iTunes sees more than it probably wants to and I’m sure my parents aren’t great appreciators of how often it plays and how
loud.

The evolution of this class has been really exciting for me. It was prompted when one of my best friends asked me why I listened to music. I hadn’t really thought about that question before and it took me a few minutes to articulate my thoughts. I suppose I listen to music because I have to...

and

This is where art journaling comes in. I art journal in an 8.5x11 composition book. It’s easy, very wrinkly, and carefree. I don’t feel pressured to create an amazing piece of artwork or journal something especially profound that I’ll look back on and go, “golly, that sure was profound”. It’s more of a verbal and artistic throw up. Lovely,eh? ;)

This class is simply an introduction into my process of art journaling. I’ll walk you along the steps that I take to begin and to create.

We will be making a composition book art journal, with step by step instructions, to create our art journal pages in. Everyday there will be several prompt ideas and a technique highlight. The actual altered compostion book we make doesn't have to necessarily be only of the pages you make in the class, but just a new format for any future art journaling.

Other things that are included: Random giveaway, an amazing Guest Designer and her examples, 1 Video Post(in which I'm sure I'll talk about absolutely nothing), and a printable embellishment page.

The Breakdown:
  • This is a 5 Day Class beginning on Monday, July 13th and concluding on the 17th.
  • The class will be sold through my Etsy shop or PayPal for $14.50.
  • You will be given access to the private blog and Supply List immediately after buying the class.
  • The Class will be sold from July 6th through the 13th.
  • The blog will be open two weeks after the class concludes. When those two weeks are up, I will send out a PDF which you can easily save and print.
Note on my teaching style(which is very similar to my Life Story Class if you took that)-

I am not step by step kind of instructor, this class doesn't have detailed techniques, and exact formulas to put things together. I'm more a gentle encourager, giving ideas and journaling prompts. This class is more of a workshop, than a class.

Eeek! I am just brimming with excitement. Peaks of the projects coming all this week! :)

Meet Clia.

Clia Louise

This is Clia Louise. She is a beautiful. She's a pinhole camera and she takes amazing, blurry, and wonderful pictures. My friend Jacob made it for me for my birthday(how the cow does someone make a camera? I don't know).

I just thought she needed a proper introduction on the blog. Say hello to her. :D

Hi, hi!

Pretending to be productive today, finished up all my Hambly loot. My day has been controlled by allergies/cold/whateverthecrap this is, so I have bummed around my house darting dirty glares at people and read a book. Doesn't help that it's stinking hot, gahhhh.

Just wanted to come and share some Hambly layouts and announce the winner from the silly Vlog giveaway.

Random Number Generator picked 9. Send me your address, Clair, and I'll be getting that out to be by the end of the week. :D

Here we go!

:)

My mom is amazing.

It's the truth...

In lieu of last year's post.

Here is to cherishing my last year of highschool, to letting go of all my anger and resentment, to continue taking chances, to working hard, to focusing, to being vibrant and to be true.

A year of drawings, paintings, loving people like Jesus loves me, wearing even stranger clothes. A year of becoming better at what I can do, of working extremely hard for my dreams, and to become less selfish.

Looking back at last year's post, I kinda smiled. I'm proud of what I did this last year, but dissapointed at the same time. I grew up and that scares me and excites me. I'm a different girl and I've had a hard time letting go of her, of last year's Kara. The Kara that had a lot of passion, but was naive and confused. She was good, but this year's Kara is so much better.

I can't wait for next year's. I want to be proud of her.

xoxo.

Happy weekend to you. :)

Vlog? Oh, man.

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Let it go.

So, I get home from a trip and think to my, "goodness, kara, you have so much to say". And then Day Two rolls around and you're like... Um, what the cow to blog about....

So, I bring thee Randomness! Oh, lucky you! :D

I was looking through my Life Story box today for the first time in months, I opened up the envelope with the film photos I took. It's so weird how one glance at a picture will immediately bring you back to the emotions and changes you were experiencing at that time... Like, it really weirded me out.

Yeah. Totally completely random, unrelated story. I told you I'd bring you randomness! :)

The picture--

More Randomness!

Very excited for Kim's online class! Kim is a genuis with everything so this is sure to be a success. This stinking cute outfit on Tavi from Style Rookie.

I like this song. A lot.

So, yeah. That's pretty much it for today.

Come back for a little giveaway sometime tomorrow. :)

Happy day.

Whooooooooaaaa. I am back. So, so, so glad to be back. I feel like Summer hasn't really even started yet since I haven't been at home to appreciate the glories and wonders that a lazy Summer holds. Like late nights in parks, sumburns, and doing nothing.

My family and I went to Glacier National Park in Montana. A super, super beautiful park. I had a good time, but am ready to do a little family detoxing. I love those people dearly, but sometimes...

I feel like I have lots and lots to catch up on and I'm so ready for the best week ever.

Ice cream today with friends. Tomorrow Regina's new album comes out! Then to the midnight showing of Transformers with my Stephanie and she's taking me out for breakfast right after the movie for my birthday.

Wednesday is possibly an art day with friends and then water park with Stephie. Thursday is Movie Night and Friday is my birthday. Sigh. I'm excited. :D

Life is so much better with good friends.

Random Stuff---

I realized that I hadn't mentioned much about the changes at Bad Girls. If you head on over to the site, you'll see the beautiful changes they've made. Wendy made a brave decision to change the focus of her company and I'm so proud of her for that. Unfortunately, I'm not working with Bad Girls anymore, but I seriously had a wonderful time working with them. The art was a blast and the friendship was amazing. Don't worry, they are still making fantastic kits!

My Class-

I hadn't really forseen how busy I'd be this month, so the class preparation has taken a back seat. The class will, most likely, be going up the week of July 13-17th. I will have a post later this week with class information, the decided dates, and other jazz.

Etsy- New Etsy update will be happening in the next two weeks.

:)

Sweet Kayla sent me this card. Thanks, girl! :D
My loot.

Some loot from thrifting last week. And an amazing book store in one of my new favorite small towns, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. The card is from a super cute boutique there.

Here.

School is out. Hallelujah.

Leaving tomorrow for a church service trip in Oregon for a week.

I'll be back soon. Ready, inspired, and rejuvenated, I hope.

'Till then.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Okay, okay. I know I promised I'd blog everyday. I just got lazy and uninspired. It shall be resurrected this week, I swear. :D

I saw this little survey on Genevieve's blog and loved reading her answers, so I thought I'd include it here. :D

1. What is the latest piece of artwork you have purchased?

Oh, man. I haven't really bought anything new in a long time. I'm hoping for some birthday money, because my inspiration wire needs a little sprucing up.

Though, I LOVE this print. So fun. I've been playing with watercolors recently and this is way inspiring. :)

2. What's a recipe you have been dying to try, but haven't got around to it yet?

Haha. Yeah, don't cook for a reason.

3. Post a photo from your flickr favorites that is inspiring to you at the moment.

Love this!

4. What's something you have been enjoying as of late?

Tumblr, most definitely. It's so fun and nice to reblog things and it's a good way to get random stuff out that wouldn't suffice a regular blog post.

5. What's something you would like to try?

Guitar! I really want to learn.

6. What's something you're looking forward to in June?

My birthday! 17 on June 26th! Yay, I love my Birthday, mainly because June is my favorite month and birthdays are just fun.

I'm looking forward to having no school, a service trip with my church in Orego
n, staying up really late, summer skies, and watermelon, oh my! :)

7. Post a few of your own favourite shots from the last few days...
No new shots, because I haven't taken any. Will be fixed soon, I swear. How 'bout some yummy Hambly layouts? :D

{this layout made with some awesome My Little Shoebox. So cute and fun! :D}

8. What's something you've been thinking a lot about lately?

Growing up. It's been on my mind a lot in the last couple of months. It was weird to be at my highschool's graduation and know that it's going to be me in a year from now. I think I'm getting to the point where I might be ready to start all this growing up. It's scary, but liberating.

Also thinking about my Summer resolutions and my Summer list. Not complaining is the highest on my Summer resolutions, it's... uh, not working out for me so well...

9. What was the last dream you had that you remember?

Oh, goodness. That I can remember? I know I've had a whole bunch since this. I cannot remember what happened at all, I just remember that my car was stolen. And something about frozen cupcakes.

I have weird dreams.

10. What is something you wish you could be doing right now?

In San Francisco with my sister.

Or I wish it'd start raining and I could go for a walk in it.

Like this--

Gorgeous spread from Teen Vogue.

Or just watching a movie with friends sounds good too.

Allrighty, have a beautiful, beautiful day! I'll be back soon, I promise. :D
