Happy day! :)

A little Hambly layout that I finished up this morning. (By the way, have you seen all the new Hambly goodies? Gahhhhh. Can we say holy crap doily LOVE?)

Sister *Hambly*
I've had a loooovely mail week this week and I've got to share!

First, Amy sent me a rocking package with some prints from her Etsy shop and another thing that I'll be showing you in a few weeks. Take a peak at her shop, it's so cute!

:D

Then today a package from the UK showed up in my mailbox, a scrumptious package from Miss Clair.

Thanks to both of you! It's so amazing how a little package can brighten someone's day so much! :)

I'm now offering my Life Story class as a downloadable PDF on my Etsy. It's a 38 PDF of the class in it's original form. It was so fun to go through and edit again, that class was such a great experience.

And from now until August 7th, I'll be offering the class for 4 dollars off to anyone who took the Music + Composition Journal class, just mention in the "message to seller" box that you took the class and I'll get a PayPal refund out to you. :)

Pick one up right here.

Also, are the pink links over to your left way too light? I wanted them to be a little washed out looking, but I've had people saying that they can barely read them at all. Thanks! :D

wednesday.

I'm not really that girl who has her wedding planned. I mean, I want to get married barefoot. And an in old church/meadow or field. Yellow bridesmaid dresses. But, y'know, other than that, I don't care all that much. Yet.

But, this? Makes me want to get married. Or at least make pretty films.

I'm second shooting a wedding this Saturday with a lovely photographer friend from church, so, so excited!

Completely and totally inspired by Josh Goleman. Trying to acquire as much inspiration for Saturday and this site is perfect.

Also, I'm starting to like the blog layout(and I figured out my HTML problems.... i just needed to sign out of my google account and then they'd stay the same... i'm such an idiot sometimes). Need to finish the Like, Listen, and FAQ sections and that should be all done. Yay!

Allright, I've been a bum all morning and need to get myself pretty/clean my room for scrapbook time with a friend, yay! :D

HTML smarty peoples?

Ok, I'm hoping some of you smart people that play around with blogger in HTML can help me.

I'm attempting to drastically reduce the space between the elements(widgets, gadgets, whatever have you) on my sidebar. I went in and changed the "em"

part here--

.sidebar .widget, .main .widget {
border-bottom:1px dotted $bordercolor;
margin:0 0 0.1em;
padding:0 0 0.1em;
}

I reduced it a whole lot, clicked "preview" and the spacing was exactly what I wanted. I saved the template, but when I view my blog, I still see the spaces.

In Internet explorer, it stays to what I want it to. But in Firefox the spaces are still there... And I'm so not willing to using IE for browsing, I'm a Firefox girl.

Is this a browser thing or can I fix it?

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Mmm. Yes.

yum.

In an attempt to organize and simplify my life, I decided to take care of some things, do a little "yard sale". I've listed a couple mini kits and some random thrifting finds in my Etsy shop today.

Some of the pretties--

Okay, okay. So, yes, I do realize that it's Monday and I never posted Fridays visual blog. I just feel uninspired to do so... So, yes, I'm being lazy.

But, I really enjoyed making them. Hopefully going to make it into a weekly tradition now.

Spent the last hour or so pretending to change the blog around. I don't like it all, but I'm going to let it sit and them come and maybe change it.

I spent almost 6 and a half hours on Saturday cleaning and organizing my bedroom(you'll be seeing the benefits around these parts today or tomorrow). And the blog has been driving me crazy.

I think it's the fonts though. I hate all these fonts. Blehhhhh.

Anyways. That's all I have to say.

And I'm sick of the heat. Oh yes, I am.

FAQ

Questions that maybe, like, one person has ever asked, but FAQ's are just so dang cool, that I had to make one! That would be a Nikon d40. I've had her for over two years and I'll be upgrading in the next year. All the photos on here are used with the kit lens, 18-55mm. If I ever use a different lens, I'll be sure to mention it.

I shoot in fully Manual all of the time. Sometimes I slip into Auto if I'm feeling lazy, but that's quite rare. I usually adjust my ISO to the lighting situation, set my aperture to lowest it will go and the adjust the shutter speed while viewing my light meter inside my camera. Manual is sometimes a lot of trial and error at the beginning, but now it's the only way I shoot.

Constantly, constantly, constantly try new things and practice all the time. I guess that's all the advice I can give. :)
I am not very impressed with the d40, it's certainly done the job for what I need it to, but it has lens compatibilty issues which are annoying. I've heard good things about the d80 or the Canon Rebel, for beginners, but do your research/read reviews and see what fits best in your hands.

Because of safety reasons and such, I try to keep my Facebook friends to people I know in "real life" or women that I work with. I mean, I feel like I "know" all of you and I'm quite sure most of you aren't creepers, it's just that if I add you, I would have to add someone I don't necessarily know as well and soon creepers could be chasing me home! :P

Hooope you understand and always feel free to email me with questions or if you just want to say hi. :)
I've learned to fiddle around in HTML a tiny bit, but really I have no idea what I am doing most of the time. If I feel like doing something, I just Google it and cross my fingers there's a tutorial or explanation out there somewhere, haha. This is a good website for some sort of easy Blogger alterations and this post specifically for three column blogger templates.

Okay, so.. No one has ever actually asked me that, but I ask myself it all the time! :P I do read every comment and usually check out everyone's blog, I'm just really, really bad at commenting back. I usually don't want to say something if I don't feel whatever I say/think is especially enlightening. But! I am trying to get better. Just know that I don't hate you if I don't reply, just remember that I'm a loser and sometimes socially awkward. We'll blame it on the fact I was homeschooled, okay?

No.

Sure! Send me an email or convo me on Etsy and we'll chat it up.

I get about 6500 hits here each month. My rates are quite reasonable, just drop me an email if you want more information, thank you! :)

today's visual blog will be coming tomorrow. had a long and eventful day(which involves my car dying in the turning lane and me freaking out... and a random guy helping me after me acting like an insane woman... anyways. i am tired. but! the best part of weekends? i don't run at 6:45 in the morning... hello, sleeping in!)

summmmer

Miss Mandy sent me one of these fun summer minis from her Etsy shop to play with about a month ago. I finally stopped being a lazy bum and made something with it.

I'm really glad I did it, it was kinda of that furious creating going on when too many thoughts are running through your head and I'm glad I got it all down.

Some pictures!!

I just did a simple theme of gray + pink + orange and then some sewing and watercolor throughout it. I enjoy working with predone books, it's easier and more freeing. And this is a perfect time in the summer to sort of "Summer recap" and then you can leave a few pages to fill out at the end.

Thanks, Mandy, for letting me play!

Go pick one up for yourself. :)

Be back later with some visual blogging.

A Shoe Sale

Or, at least, the Sequined Shoe sale.

I made a few pocket journals and journals this past week, I've listed them cheaper than I usually do. I want get the shop all nice and cleared out for a new ,different kind of update in the next month. The postcards are also on sale, so snatch 'em why you can, I'm not sure if I'll reprint again.

Allright, be back soon. :)

YAY

YES

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Yes.

ah.

Gollllly gee! Thank you for all the splendid ideas and encouragement. Some weeks just kinda suck(can we all say PMS together? holy crap)
, but, dude I realize it's time for me to get off my lazy butt and stop feeling sorry for myself. I've just hit the Summer blues. It's too hot and I'm bored. I told like 30 people this week that I can't wait for school to start so I can have something to do, this is bad people. BAD.

So now my back a little straighter and some coffee ice cream in my cow mug, OH MAN.

To get myself back in the wondrous spirit of being focused, working hard(which, by the way, is by new mantra for this age of 17), and uh whatever is that I'm going to do to stay busy, I'm switching things up a little next week, on the blog that is. I feel very inspired about it.

Also an itty Etsy update and a project to share.

My class went wonderfully well and I'm so enjoying all the lovelies that my "students" made. So fun.

I believe that is it for today.

Have a good one. :)

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

observation: i think i've cried more this summer than i did last summer.

what are you doing to keep yourself busy this summer? i desperately need ideas.

start listing them off and i'll promise we'll be bffs forever.

go. comment now. even if you are a lurker.

for the sake of my crying, okay?!?! thank you.

why, today.

i am in the mood to go to europe.

i should call someone and make plans for today so i'm not a lazy bum.

i should work on scrapbooking deadlines and paint my toenails.

i should write some letters to people and send them.

i'm bored with life right now. i hate being bored with life.

i have a guitar. and i'm very frightened to start learning. i hate that.

i should go eat breakfast and not just drink coffee.

and i should go do my summer homework. four papers, two books, and a 15 page constitution packet. yuck. i'll probably do them two days before school starts.

i'm scheming some etsy ideas. and i already think i know the name for the zine i want to write.

i should go reply to emails and wash my hair.

wow. this is a "i should" post. laziness in it's finest.

happy day to you.

:P

claire de lune

Yesterday was his birthday. He's an old man of 19 now. Happy birthday, sweet boy. You mean so much to me. :)

This was his gift from me. He gave me a CD months and months ago with the song Claire de Lune on it by Debussy. I think it's my favorite classical piano song ever.

This is what I see when I hear it.

And, Jake? Thanks for being such a wonderful, wonderful friend. :)

If you have purchased the class and have not received a Blog Invite, please email me at karahaupt[@]gmail.com. I want to make certain that you get it, thanks!

(And I promise that this blog will go back to regular, un-class related posting soon.)

Monday, July 6, 2009

Just a quick note to say that I've listed 11 more class spots in the Shop right now. I don't really have a specific number or limit for the class, as of yet, so I'm sure you'll be able to get a spot. Blog invites will be going out tomorrow night.

Thank you soooo much for all the excitement and encouragement for this class. It makes doing this incredibly worth it.

Have a beautiful Monday, mine has been great.

Kara Haupt

EDITED: Yes, there are definitely more spots open right now. I haven't been sure how many people were interested, so I've been making a loose guess on how many to list. 10 more are up now and I'll most likely list more as they sell out. Thank you so much again!!! :D

Sneak of my class.
Today is a butt short day.

Butt shorts are these tiny boxer shorts that, of course, only really cover your butt. I don't wear them in public, but for all of this hot weather inside... Butt shorts are a necessary tool for productivity.

They've been in full force today. I've been working on finishing up class examples and details and getting the general stuff all nice and sort of done. Go me.

Wanted to pop in and say that class spots will be going up in the Etsy shop tomorrow in the afternoon and early evening. I don't have a class limit as of yet, so getting a spot should be rather easy. If you're concerned about not getting one in time for whatever reason, feel free to email me and reserve a spot. They'll be sold until next Monday.

I'm so excited to have the ever lovely, Rachel Denbow, guest design for this class. I find her work stunning and I know you will too.

Happy Sunday. I'm off to make cupcakes for an art day with friends tomorrow.
